This is to all those Online storage companies out there,beware this is your judgment day.The big daddy of all searches have unleashed their new online storage portal called “GDrive”.

Google is to launch a service that would enable users to access their personal computer from any internet connection, according to industry reports. But campaigners warn that it would give the online behemoth unprecedented control over individuals’ personal data.t’s long been rumored that Google would eventually offer an online storage cloud for all your data, and now that fable has become a reality. the increase in Gmail storage for some users today was actually a precursor to the launch of Google shared storage.

The new storage service brings together your storage usage from Gmail and Picasa Web Albums, allowing you to upgrade for a fee. The fees are as follows, with payments made via Google Checkout:

-6 GB ($20.00 per year)

-25 GB ($75.00 per year)

-100 GB ($250.00 per year)

-250 GB ($500.00 per year)

Google Documents will most likely be the next Google service to become part of shared storage, while premium accounts like the one on Picasa are being replaced with this new system. It’s a move that takes the sheen off Microsoft’s SkyDrive, which is gaining coverage today. Meanwhile, we can surely expect Google to open the APIs on Google storage, making for a flexible storage solution that challenges Amazon S3, plus all the smaller startups.

May I remind you of the following GoogleZon video, created in November 2004: despite a few mistakes, its vision of a Google cloud storing your entire life is becoming more true by the day.

The secret has been revealed in the new iPhone in which it was  found embedded in an obscure file within the iPhone 2.2.1 firmware. On Friday, a recently modified javascript file for Google pack, http://pack.google.com/cistrings.js, contains a full description of Google’s long rumored online file storage service, GDrive. Embedded within the file is the following,

// Localized product category of GDrive
_CI_messages.CI_GDRIVE_CATEGORY = ‘Online file backup and storage’;
// Localized short description of GDrive (1st
// of 2 description lines)
_CI_messages.CI_GDRIVE_DESCRIPTION_1 = ‘GDrive provides reliable storage for all of your files, including photos, music and documents’;
// Localized short description of GDrive (2nd
// of 2 description lines)
_CI_messages.CI_GDRIVE_DESCRIPTION_2 = ‘GDrive allows you to access your files from anywhere, anytime, and from any device -  be it from your desktop, web browser or cellular phone’;

The inclusion of the text into a Google Pack file suggests that GDrive may be offered as an application within Google Pack. We are unsure whether this GDrive text is a new addition or a reference that has been there for a while but only recently discovered. Either way, this is as close to a confirmation as we are going to get that Google is indeed moving forward with the concept of GDrive.

Google refused to confirm the GDrive, but acknowledged the growing demand for cloud computing. Dave Armstrong, head of product and marketing for Google Enterprise, said: “There’s a clear direction … away from people thinking, ‘This is my PC, this is my hard drive,’ to ‘This is how I interact with information, this is how I interact with the web.’”

    if your laptop and home PC’s are on the same network, someone from other end can find out what is going on other PC’s, if they know what is administrator password for your home PC’s. But as far as i know it’s against law. so it’s depend on other side, but it’s not an easy task to do and not worth it.
