Fix for Windows has blocked this software because it can’t verify the publisher Error

Posted by Vishnu | On: Mar 27 2011

Today I encountered this issue while I am trying to configure a X vision X16DVR through network.I did the DVR configurations and tried to access the DVR using Internet Explorer 9 and it has prompted to install some ActiveX Control named Remoteweb.cab as usual I just clicked Install but it have given me this error Windows has blocked this software because it can’t verify the publisher.

This error is prompted because by default Internet Explorer disable running unsigned ActiveX controls like CAB install files or a ZIP file which do not have a digital signature.

Work Around

  • In Internet Explorer ———>Tools——–>Internet Options
  • Go to Security Tab———>Trusted Sites———>Click on Sites——–>Add the site address or IP address of the Device you are trying to access.

NB: Don’t forget to remove the check mark on the check box near to Requested site verification (https:) for all the sites in this zone

  • Once finished adding click close and and come back to the Trusted Sites————->Click Custom Level———–>Scroll Down you will find these two options
  1. Download unsigned ActiveX Control
  2. Initialize and script ActiveX control not marked as safe for scripting

and both of them will be in  disabled state change that to prompt as show in the image below.

It is done close every thing and try reloading the page now it will prompt for installation and allow you to install unsigned ActiveX Controls for sites in your Trusted Sites Zone.
