Blackberry Chat App for Facebook “Chit Chat for Facebook” Provides More Features and Capabilities
Athena IT Limited has announced its newest product, Chit Chat for Facebook, a Blackberry app for smartphones.
Chit Chat is an application on Facebook that allows users to message instantly and to chat with their friends. It is also an IM or Instant Messenger. The Blackberry Facebook app allows users to chat on the go, wherever they are. It offers a low cost solution (US$1.99) to Blackberry users in order to stay connected. The application supports most Blackberry smartphones, including the Curve, Bold and Storm models. The OS requirements are 4.2 – 6. The application connects directly with Facebook Chat servers.
The application is extremely easy to use. Once you’ve purchased the app, download and install it onto your device, then log in to Facebook with your username and password. Three tabs are displayed once you’ve logged in: one that lists your Facebook friends; one that lists your conversations and one that displays unread messages. This helps you to organize your messages and your data.
The app also lets you customize your display. Users can change the color of both incoming and outgoing messages, speech bubbles and backgrounds. Once the app is installed, users have complete control over what it looks like on their devices. This one feature alone has made this app extremely popular among young people. Older users will appreciate the option of having larger fonts which makes the messages easier to read.
There are also some advanced features that Blackberry Chit Chat offers. Users can use the spacebar and cursor to find their friends quickly, instead of having to scroll through their Friends lists. Filtering features let you find friends quickly and easily; and instant notifications, either audible or on vibrate will let you know when you’ve received a new message. The display clearly shows which friends are online and available for chat. Each name will either have a green chat symbol beside their name, which means they are available; or a yellow symbol, which means they are offline or unavailable. The larger font makes things clear, concise and easy to read. In order to start a conversation with one of your contacts, simply highlight the name and select.
There are also keyboard shortcuts, which is a big plus for those who make heavy use of their Blackberrys. Alt+T will focus the cursor on the chat typing input screen. If users have long buddy lists, finding a name is done quickly by typing just the first few letters of a friend’s name.
With over 750 million Facebook users and 50 million cell phone users, it makes sense to pair the two. Experts predict that users aged 25 and younger will continue to bridge the gap between Facebook users and mobile users. Computers, both laptops and PCs, are waning in popularity, as many are opting for ways to keep connected on the go. It’s hard to find anyone without a cell phone or smartphone these days. The demand for high quality, low cost applications will only continue to grow.
This Blackberry Facebook app aims at keeping Facebook users connected on the go. The company understands that people are busier today than ever before, but that it’s also important to keep in touch with friends and family members. Chatting is more than just talking about the weather or complaining about your boss. University and college students can keep in touch with their parents; friends can plan outings and travellers can check in with loved ones to confirm their safe arrival at a destination.
The company feels that the benefits received far outweigh the nominal price of US$1.99 and, so far, users have been quick to agree. The ease of use and customizable features are among the biggest hits of this app. Blackberry users who have Facebook accounts are sure to love the versatility of being able to chat from anywhere, at any time. There really isn’t any downside to using this Facebook Blackberry IM app, other than that it can be distracting with so many friends available to chat at any time. Users will have to apply some self-discipline in order to keep focused on the tasks at hand.
